Bride Resources

Everything little bit of help is helpful
My favorite and most helpful resource has been Carla my wedding planner. She is awesome and much better at this than me, for good reason of course. Carla is 5 steps ahead of me and always keeping me on track. She is familiar when a lot of local vendors and has a relationship already which cuts out some agony in the process. I absolutely suggest getting your own Carla- or I can share mine as long as you have a different date! ( Ask me! )
My first step in planning was to head to the book store, fortunately it was right when Borders was closing and I got some great deals. The library has them too, after reading a few you get the gist; ask a ton of questions and dont forget the details. I also bought a great book for my Mom here, something about “everything you dont need to know about your daughter’s wedding….” My Mom and I needed a 3 mississippi before finding a shared space in the wedding planning- i doubt the book did it but the idea that we would need to compromise was apparent because a book like this even exists.
The internet!!!!
I love the internet a little too much. I think the internet is actually detrimental to my planning because there is SOOO much available on it that I go CRAZY. If you can focus with the internet its a great place to find ideas and save a little bit of money.
Some great websites
Obviously The Knot is a great resource and it does try and support you locally.
I love Pininterest! Pininterest is a great way to collect ideas, its like a modern day pin board that you can see ideas together for a cohesive flow. What is really cool is that you can add a tab to your browser and it can easily grab photos as you surf the web, no need to download -> save -> upload -> edit… its really easy. I have a board for flower ideas, cakes, bridesmaid dresses etc.
Etsy! This is like ebay for crafting. Handmade and DIY projects fill the pages here and i’ve found some great one of a kind pieces here. They have anything from invitations to veils to forks all for weddings ( and beyond ).
Weddington Way is great, this website lets you look for bridesmaid dresses -> share them with your wedding party -> get their votes -> and then order. I’m using it right now to get my girls in the same dresses, or same fabric but slightly catered to their personality.
Blogs I love this blog- bridal musings. She is a blogger in the UK and blogs about these unique UK weddings that are very DIY. I’ve gotten some great ideas for e-shoots and dessert bars and flowers here… basically everything. The weddings she features are real! and very fabulous but not expensive.
My photographer’s website My photographer has a great page on the website about Buffalo reception spots and ceremony spots that they have shot. This site helped me pick a venue and since I loved my venue through their eyes it was only natural to use them as my photographer. Enjoy this one its awesome.
phew. thats a good start.. I hope I didn’t ruin your night because you’ll be lost in the interwebs.
