Registry

what to include when you don't need any more stuff
As we speak I am filling in the registry at Macys… yes literally flipping between browsers.
Brandon and I had ventured to Macys a few weeks ago and started the registry process. Of course I tricked him on the day he returned from Germany, his jet lag was in my favor- he was too phased to say no. Win for Julie! ( or so I thought ). So we ventured to Macys, and I tricked him again ( yeah… its fun ) by mentioning that I needed to use the restroom which is on the 5th floor where the suits are. So we spent the first hour trying on jackets which is my biggest gripe right now- he hasn’t a clue what the guys will wear. Well, progress.
So we then ventured to the fine china section and began the registry. I sent him for a coffee run and I delved into the wall of fine china- have you seen it yet- its HUGE! 3 hours later, we ended up with the most gaudy set of China…. yes three hours later. Who knew it could take so long for two incredibly decisive people to pick china. We would take them down, see them set up on the mock table, hate them and try again. We narrowed it down to 4 sets; 3 were gaudy at different levels and one was simple and elegant. We choose the gaudy one of course because ” when we pull out the china, we want everyone to know that we are pulling out the china!” How silly are we?!?! Anyways, the big takeaway was that it all came down to the coffee cups. There are 3 types of coffee cup shapes and to us only one was elegant for fine china- the other two are bulky and not ergonomic. phew… 3 hours down and we only have china.
flatware was easy, and wine glasses- only 1 we liked in both categories. After 4 hours we threw in the towel, enough torture for the man.
So, here I am on a business trip with my own jet lag and filling out the registry online. I can not tell you how easy it is to do this online, I love shopping online and this is the ultimate treat- I don’t have to pay for it! I am curled up in my pjs with cartoons and crystal stemware. I am not in love with the idea of a registry, we don’t need more stuff but if it needs to be done- why not this way. Search, click, add.
Reduce you stress- register online!
Macys is done! Does anyone have suggestions for other places? We are looking at the “one registry” type of thing where we can add in all kinds of random items next. How else can we put in a grill, honeymoon activities, an air mattress and a tent? ( maybe sears but ... eh I like this kind of system better )
Best of luck registering!
