Growing Up

Planning a Wedding and buying a house!!!
So, when you grow up, boy do you grow up! I thought I was completely inundated with my adult life when I graduated from college and started working full time. But, there is something to be said about doing that, becoming engaged, planning a wedding and buying a house for the first time! We recently found the house of our dreams (after searching for over a year) and are closing tomorrow! We could not be happier.
Howevva… upon snapping out of the “holy-moly we have a house” la-la land we have been in… we realized, holy moly, we’re buying a house. Tomorrow. If there has ever been a time to realize that you are an adult, it is the day before you purchase a home. Don’t get me wrong, the good astronomically outweighs the scary in this instance. The words mortgage, repairs, taxes, permanent neighbors (just kidding) all seem to have an unsettling tone about them. Word of advice: grow a thick skin before you purchase your first home. Also, do your research! Basically it gets frustrating when everyone’s hands are in your pockets (like the 5946589538 lawyers apparently needed throughout this process- who you will never meet) But oh my god! We now actually get to start our lives together.
Andrew and I both seem to have the same fantasy of paint-splattered clothes and a chunky old radio blasting tunes from before we were born, and plan on spending the first few hours taking in our purchase in the empty rooms with Chinese food and a bottle of champagne. And ladies, this home has 4 bedrooms. One of those is definitely going to temporarily become wedding planning central. I am envisioning swatches, ribbons, corkboards full of pictures, flowers… you name it. My real-life version of Pintrest (only my girlfriends can’t do what I have been doing and steal my ideas
)
On that note, holy wedding season! My best friend is getting married next week (OMG!!), Andrews cousin the day after that, and one more wedding a few weeks after that. I hate to admit it but yes, I will absolutely be checking everything out and taking ideas from these beautiful ladies. (Thanks girls!) I am the most excited about Dee’s wedding; I get to be a bridesmaid, and see what an amazing event she puts on.
The last thing for today: My girlfriend is thinking about opening a Bridal Salon here in Buffalo in the near future. I don’t know about you, but (with the exception of David’s Bridal where I found my dress) every store I went into was old, had less than pleasant consultants, and was essentially overall quite blah. So her endeavor will be a welcome change in our area.
If you have gone dress shopping in the past few years or are going to soon, could you please do her a favor and fill out her short survey below:
