Dear Jen:

I have a big picture in my head of what I want my wedding day to look like, but am having trouble incorporating color. The theme we want for our wedding is red roses. I want myself and my girls to be carrying bouquets of red roses, but I don't know what color to put my girls in. I'm looking into black, but we're getting married in June. It is wrong to have your bridesmaids wear black in the summer?

Dear Lisa:

Tea length dresses and monotones are really in style for spring/summer bridesmaids dresses. Anything monochromatic is in, and bright colors are always a huge hit. What both of these trends lean towards is the ability to wear the dress after the wedding, and the ‘little black dress’ fits that trend to a T.  The style is chic and classic, and the little black dress is a must-have for every woman’s wardrobe.

The bonus for choosing a monotone color is that your accent colors will show up very well in the photography. A very popular monochromatic theme is black, red and white - so you can’t go wrong there even if your wedding is in the summer. The red roses will really pop in all of your photos against the black dresses, and this color scheme is really romantic!
