Invite an Ex: Yes or No?
Many exes become good friends over time, and there’s no reason they can’t be invited to your wedding – as long as your fiancé is truly on-board.
“If he or she isn’t 100-percent comfortable with it, have a conversation with your ex before the save-the-dates go out and gently explain that although your own feelings aren’t complicated, you need to respect the feelings of your future spouse,” says Elise Mac Adam, author of “Something New: Wedding Etiquette for Rule Breakers, Traditionalists, and Everyone In Between” (Simon Spotlight Entertainment, 2008).
But if the ex invite is no problem, just treat any former sweeties like any other guest, adds Nancy Mattia, senior articles editor for Brides magazine. “And make sure you allow them a plus-one.”
