Honeymoon, Cakes, and more...

My plan to do one thing at a time is still intact, but it was slowly unraveling. With every new thought and, consequently, new list, I remember something more that I have to do. I am rapidly nearing the 6-month mark, so putting things off really isn’t an option anymore. While I do feel like I’ve got a lot done (dresses, location, music, etc), there seems to be a never-ending list of more to do. Next on the agenda: honeymoon plans and cakes.

I vowed I wouldn’t get too scatterbrained while planning, so the idea of tackling two things at once was not very appealing. Luckily, Dan wants to be primarily in charge of the honeymoon. Because I will still have a say in the final decision, I was relieved to have this takeover. We went to a travel agency last week and have it narrowed down to two resorts – one in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and one in the Mayan Riviera – err Riveria Maya? – in Mexico. Dan’s a big ancient history buff, so that is one big appeal of Mexico, but I have heard wonderful things about the resorts and beaches in the Dominican. I’m sure both will be lovely, but we are still deciding. So, any pointers from recent honeymooners would be fabulous.

We also started thinking about cakes last week. The intricacy of many of the cakes we saw astounded me. We had a few ideas, but, of course, everything changed when we saw the examples. As of right now, we are pricing a few different places before making a final decision. Luckily, my Maid of Honor has decided to take on some of this responsibility. :-)

If I’ve learned one thing over the past few weeks it is this: sometimes one needs to delegate! I was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed with wedding planning, work, and graduate school. One of these three very important parts of my life was consistently getting put off. As a result, I was losing interest in my plans and that is something that I do not want to do. I started off organized and ready to take on anything, from chair covers to boutonnières, and the last thing I want to do is let planning become an undesirable chore. I feel back on track after this week and ready to finalize some decisions and perhaps even move on. Photographers, anyone?
