Ten Days and Counting

Well, the big day is getting closer and closer! It’s amazing to me that I’ve been planning for over a year and that all of my effort will soon come together. I’m more than extremely busy with last minute planning, so this post might be somewhat brief. I’ll try to do a few more updates before the 10th with any news or issues that come up.

Lately I’ve been in the final stages of planning (obviously). I’ve just received the last response card and have been calling vendors with final counts. It is very exciting to finally have things more organized. I can also begin to calculate totals and relax about the budget that I’ve worked so hard to stick to since last fall.

On Sunday I sat down with my mom and we began to put tables together. This was a task that I had been dreading from day one. I knew how hard it would be to make everyone happy, but I also knew I didn’t want anyone to feel out of place or uncomfortable. It is such a relief to have that task checked off of my list. I am confident that my guests will enjoy themselves will feel completely at ease all night.

I visited the Embassy Suites last night to see the room one final time and discuss a layout. There are so many little things that they are doing for me that I feel will make the wedding. One thing that I have learned throughout this process is this: ask for what you want. I am usually pretty timid and prefer not to ask people to do anything extra for me. However, it was surprising to me how many vendors made me feel like I was their only customer. It’s reassuring to hear someone tell me that it is “my day” and that I deserve the little extras. My advice to newly engaged couples is to find vendors that make you feel this way. It is a really stressful time and feeling like you have people on your side makes things much easier.

I’m celebrating with the girls on Friday, Dan and I have our final dance lesson next week, and we are spending time confirming the details for both the ceremony and the reception. Wednesday of next week is my last day of work before the wedding, the rehearsal is on Thursday, and then it’sFriday...which means just one thing: 1 day left! Each day from now until the wedding is jam-packed with plans and events. As I have been telling my father from day one, it is “all wedding, all the time” from here one out!
